New Romance Author Makes
Impressive Debut with Alison’s Journey.

Proceeds to Support Central Ohio Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence.

March 14, 2005, Frederick, Maryland - Alison’s Journey, a novel by talented, new romance author Amey S. Tippett, hits store shelves April 21st. In keeping with the book’s central focus, one woman’s escape from and survival of domestic violence, Ms. Tippett is pledging 10% of the book’s royalties to aid domestic violence victims in the Central Ohio region and raise awareness. One tenth of Ms. Tippett’s personal profits will be donated to the Center for New Beginnings Domestic Violence Shelter Services in Newark, Ohio.

Alison’s Journey is the sweetly emotional story of one woman’s courageous decision to extricate herself from an abusive marriage, resulting in a mad dash across America. Pure chance lands the heroine in small town Ohio, where she learns about friendship, loyalty, trust and – yes – true love.

The standout qualities of Alison’s Journey can be found in the author’s comfort with storytelling, the ease of the reader in relating to the characters, the true portrayal of the harsh reality of domestic violence and most importantly, the bittersweet and poignant meaning that a healing, but scarred heart imparts on true friendship and real love. Ms. Tippett wraps readers in a warmly emotional cocoon as Alison learns to allow herself to depend on others, and opens up to new friendships and a new love.

While Alison’s story is fictitious, it is unfortunately all too real for millions of American women. Ms. Tippett’s goal is to utilize the violent nature of Alison’s relationship with her husband, the man she leaves in the story, to bring much-needed attention to domestic violence and is planning a donation to a domestic violence shelter and assistance agency Central Ohio.

The Center for New Beginnings Domestic Violence Shelter & Services in Newark, Ohio is a program offering free confidential housing and assistance services to Central Ohio community members and residents who need help making a fresh start. The agency’s services include a 24-hour crisis hotline, housing for victims who need shelter, victim and child advocacy programs, case management, domestic violence education and support groups, among others.

In 2004, New Beginnings was able to assist more than 300 women and children in leaving emotionally or physically abusive environments. The Center for New Beginnings is a program of the Woodlands, A Community Resource (www.thewoodland.org) and is supported by United Way.

Amey S. Tippett was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. After earning a teaching degree and a degree in French from Ohio University in 1996, Ms. Tippett relocated to Southern California, where she taught third and sixth grades. In 1999, Ms. Tippett launched Gryphon Productions, an independent consultancy providing clients with Web site development and content creation. In addition to her freelance work, Amey also made a formal career change to the information technology industry, and has recently returned to Ohio. She currently resides in Columbus with her two cats, Gryphon and Sabine, who provide endless inspiration. Writing has been a constant in her life, and currently in the works are sequels to Alison’s Journey, and two young adult novels. Ms. Tippett has also published poems in several journals including “The Glass Tesseract” and “SCAR”.
